How To Adjust To A Hybrid Work Schedule

Since 2020, working from home has become the new normal. During the COVID19 pandemic, lots of workers were at home full-time, and many have continued to do so. But with the threat of COVID19 no longer looming over us, lots of companies are now adopting a hybrid work model, allowing employees to get the best of both worlds by working in the office some of the week, and from home for the rest. If you’re starting a new job with a hybrid approach or are going back to your old office for a couple of days a week after working from home full-time for a while, here are some tips to help you adjust.

Get the Right Equipment

Making sure that you have the right equipment is key whether you’re working from home or in the office. When you’re in the office, find out if you need to bring the devices you have at home or if you’re going to have separate ones to work from at home and at your office desk. You can get items like office headsets from Lenovo.com to use on work calls when you’re working from home, and get a good laptop bag or case if you’re going to be taking your laptop into the office a couple of days a week.

Sync Your Devices

If you’re going to be using one device in the office and another at home, this can be easier as you don’t need to carry it with you for the days when you’re going in. However, it’s important to make sure that the devices are synced, as the last thing you want is to get home only to find that the project you’ve been working on hard in the office is on the other computer. You can use cloud services like Google Drive or Dropbox to make sure that you’ve always got access to your work wherever you are.

Stick to Your Routine

Working from home is more flexible, but you might be expected in the office at set times on certain days of the week. If this is the case, then it’s a good idea to stick to your office time routine when you are working from home, so everything runs smoothly. If you normally wake up and head to your desk to start working from home at 9 AM, then it might be worth starting to get into a routine of going to bed and waking up earlier, so you’re ready for your commute days.

Prepare the Night Before

The days that you are working in the office might feel daunting at first when you’ve been working from home for so long. Getting everything ready the night before including picking out an outfit and packing up your laptop and any other equipment you need can help you avoid stress and get to work feeling ready to take on the day.

If you’ve been working from home since the COVID19 pandemic, going back to the office on a hybrid basis can take some adjusting.
